The Independence of India is symbolized by the National Flag. The National anthem, the national song and the national emblem. These symbols remind of our nationhood. We must respect them.
Indian National Flag:
Indian National Flag is a symbol of our freedom and unity. The Tri-Coloured flag was hoisted for the first time at Red fort in
Indian national flag consists of three horizontal bands of different colours. Each colour has a meaning. Saffron at the top stands for courage and sacrifice. White in the middle stands for truth and peace. Green at the bottom stands for prosperity. The Dharma Chakra (Wheel of law) with twenty four spokes is at centre.
Indian National Emblem:
Indian national emblem is taken from the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath. It is found on all government document and currency notes. It consists of four lions standing back to back. Below the lions is a base on which a bull, a horse, an elephant and a lion are carved, separated from each other by wheels. The entire structure is sitting on a lotus.
The words Satyameva Jayate taken from the Mundaka Upanishad are written under it in Sanskrit. They mean ‘Truth alone triumphs’.
National Anthem:
Indian National anthem was written by the great poet and writer, Rabindranath Tagore. The national anthem also stands for the unity of our country.
The Indian national anthem is played on all important occasions. When the anthem is played, we should show our respect by standing at attention.
